TSA released an interesting read September 30:<\/p>\n

Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the results of an internal investigation uncovering widespread abuses committed by Biden administration officials, who weaponized the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) against innocent American citizens.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It goes on to say that “under the direction and leadership of former Biden TSA Administrator David Pekoske” TSA targeted people who vocally resisted wearing masks six months AFTER the CDC dropped the indoor mask requirement, as well as many people associated with January 6 despite no evidence or accusation of wrongful behavior.<\/p>\n

This targeted campaign of harassment continued through June 2021, six months after the events in question, despite no clear or immediate threat to aviation security.\u00a0<\/strong>The campaign also coincided with hundreds of January 6th<\/sup> protestors being locked away by the Biden Department of Justice. These Biden-era officials continued to target Americans even after career intelligence officials and even Biden\u2019s TSA Chief Privacy Officer sounded the alarm over these abusive actions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

People clearly associated with George Floyd-related rioting etc. were noted… and allowed to fly at will.<\/p>\n

For example, these officials chose NOT<\/strong><\/em> to flag individuals who attacked law enforcement, burned down cities, and destroyed property during the widespread and violent George Floyd protests in 2020. During this abuse of power, some TSA officials raised serious concerns about these privacy violations and political targeting. They were ignored.\u00a0TSA.gov<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It does conclude with saying 5 people had lost their jobs over this. Five ain’t enough. Read the release.<\/p>\n

Yeah, another gun column. First up – in what could be good news for those of you stuck behind enemy lines in the LA area.<\/p>\n

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department (LASD) and Sheriff Robert Luna on Tuesday, accusing it of “systematically” delaying concealed carry permits for\u00a0law-abiding citizens in violation of the Second Amendment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There’s two kinds of permits – “shall issue” says that unless they can show why you should not get a permit, you get one. “May issue” issue puts your rights at the whim of whomever is tasked with making a determination for approval, typically a sheriff, police chief, or in big cities, usually a handful of anonymous staffers beholden to the top pol in their department.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court technically made “may issue” obsolete with the Bruen decision, but several states doubled down with new requirements, changes to “sensitive areas” to eliminate public carry, or just slow-rolling applications to make obtaining a permit effectively impossible. Los Angeles falls into that last category.<\/p>\n

Now, the Department of Justice is taking the side of the angels in suing LA!<\/p>\n

The lawsuit follows an investigation started by the DOJ in March after its civil rights division received numerous complaints about delays it said were “inexplicable,” well beyond California statutory requirements and in violation of the Supreme Court\u2019s interpretation of the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.<\/p>\n

The department said it reviewed more than 8,000 applications received by the LASD, including renewals, and found delays averaging more than a year. Some applicants had interviews scheduled into late 2026, more than two years after filing.<\/p>\n

California law requires authorities to respond to applications within 90 days.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, comes after gun groups brought a separate case led by the California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) along with Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners of California and the Second Amendment Foundation.<\/p>\n

That lawsuit accused Luna and the LASD of dragging out concealed carry applications with long delays, added fees and new requirements. A judge has already issued a partial injunction, ordering LASD to shorten wait times and requiring California to open a process for non-residents to apply for permits beginning in April.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All I can say is “about damn time”.<\/p>\n
