Kilmar Abrego Garcia was released from jail in Tennessee after facing human smuggling charges. He proceeded to Maryland, checked in with immigration officials, then got detained. The process to deport Garcia to Uganda began until an Obama appointed federal judge placed a hold on the process. Garcia’s legal team is fighting to have Garcia remain in the U.S. until he has a chance to fight his deportation.<\/p>\n

A federal judge on Monday temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s effort to deport alleged MS-13 gangbanger Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda.<\/p>\n

US District Judge Paula Xinis, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, paused the deportation plan until the Trump administration allows Abrego Garcia the opportunity to contest his removal, according to the Washington Post.<\/p>\n

Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Abrego Garcia just hours before the order came down at the agency’s office in Maryland — following his release from a Tennessee jail last week after facing human smuggling charges.<\/p>\n

“Today, ICE law enforcement arrested Kilmar Abrego Garcia and are processing him for deportation,” Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.<\/p>\n

“President Trump is not going to allow this illegal alien, who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator to terrorize American citizens any longer.”<\/p>\n

Xinis’ decision follows the Salvadoran citizen’s lawsuit requesting an order to halt his deportation unless he gets the chance to contest it, his lawyer, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
