Gonna talk today about Ray and Ellie Williams.<\/p>\n
Coupla kids who were both in the Navy, met, fell in love, and four month later decided to tie the The very day they made their nuptials, Japan announced its surrender, effectively concluding years of global conflict and putting World War II to an end. Japan\u2019s surrender sparked celebrations across the United States and among Allied nations ahead of the official signing of the surrender document on Sept. 2, 1945.<\/p>\n “V-J Day was a tremendous happening, and of course, we had the personal joy of being newlyweds,” Ray Williams reflected. “It was a double joy for us.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n 80 years married. Heck, most people don’t even LIVE that long – and they held a marriage together.<\/p>\n The couple told Serrie their advice for a lasting, loving marriage: Don\u2019t hold grudges, and be prepared to compromise. They also said they have relied heavily on their Christian faith.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Yeah, you knew that part was coming, right? It’s never “I was stuck and after a while I just got used to it” – it’s always something inspirational, right?<\/p>\n Their courtship was short at just four months, but it was enough.<\/p>\n “I just liked the way we kind of enjoyed being together,” Ellie Williams told Fox News.<\/p>\n After their whirlwind romance, Ray Williams proposed, and the pair set a wedding date for Aug. 15, 1945. By chance, their chosen date coincided with one of the most significant days in world history.<\/p>\n Today, the couple live together at WellStar Atherton Place, a senior living community in Marietta, Ga., which held a ceremony to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the couple\u2019s “double joy,” remembering the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and honoring the beginning of Ray and Ellie Williams’ enduring marriage.\u00a0\u00a0Fox News<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Don’t get me wrong, I make jokes, but I have to admire their endurance and dedication. It’s funny – that seems to run in clusters. Wonder if their friends are mostly folks who have been married a long time too? Certainly are for us, our oldest friends in the world pretty much all date back almost 50 years – and most all of them are on their first spouse, too.<\/p>\n 80 years – certainly deserves a big Bravo Zulu!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"noose<\/del> knot and enter in the state of holy deadlock<\/del> wedlock.
