UPDATE: No charges filed against woman after Escambia County shooting deemed self-defense<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting that took place early Saturday morning at a home in Ensley.<\/p>\n

Deputies received a call at a home on Castlegate Drive around 4:00 a.m. where they say a man was found with a gunshot wound to the face and was transported to the hospital. His condition remains unknown.<\/p>\n

According to the ECSO, a woman present at the home stated she had been invited over by the man. During the evening, he ordered a Lyft driver for her and began acting strangely.<\/p>\n

The woman reported that the man pulled a gun on her, leading to a struggle over the weapon. During the altercation, the gun discharged, striking the man in the face. She then called 911.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s statements were corroborated by the evidence found at the scene, including the gun located inside the home.<\/p>\n

Investigators, along with the State Attorney’s Office, determined that the woman’s actions were in self-defense, and no charges will be filed against her.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
