Teen defending family member shoots, kills Dothan man<\/strong><\/p>\n

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – A teenager shot and killed a Dothan man Monday morning.<\/p>\n

According to police, officers responded to an apartment on Alabama Avenue just after 5 a.m.<\/p>\n

The person who was shot was identified as Johnny Oliver, 28.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, officers discovered Oliver was assaulting a person inside the apartment. A gun, which Oliver had brought with him to the apartment, was taken by a teen under the age of 18.<\/p>\n

According to police, the teen asked Oliver to stop several times before he fired a single shot hitting Oliver in the upper torso.<\/p>\n

Dothan Police have consulted with Houston County District Attorney Russ Goodman and criminal charges are not expected at this time.<\/p>\n

Oliver was out on bond on a prior shooting charge.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nNASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A 16-year-old was arrested, another 16-year-old boy is dead, and a woman is fighting for her life after an early-morning shooting in Madison.<\/p>\n

Just after 1 a.m., authorities say they arrived at Buffalo Trail Apartments at 3711 Dickerson Pike. There, they found Demario Anderson shot to death wearing a ski mask.<\/p>\n

Just over half a mile away, 19-year-old Janiyah Batey was found shot inside a wrecked car at a Shell gas station, according to Metro Police.<\/p>\n

Police later determined that the 16-year-old suspect and the teen who died and two other people reportedly tried to rob Batey.<\/p>\n

Now, after the incident, many parents at Cedar Hill Park say it\u2019s an outcome that\u2019s top of mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou hear about it every day, and you\u2019re like that\u2019s sad,\u201d a parent said. \u201cNow, when I was younger, I\u2019d be like \u2018oh my gosh, that never happens.\u2019 I\u2019d be so surprised, but now it\u2019s like that normal, but it\u2019s normal now in this area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police believe the teen suspect, the teen who died, and two other suspects tried to rob the 19-year-old woman.<\/p>\n

Metro police say both shootings are connected and believe that Batey was planning to meet with Anderson at the complex before the shooting.<\/p>\n

Some are hoping for additional safety measures to put them at ease.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we can see more patrolling done by the officers, if they were more of a presence,\u201d a parent said. \u201cYou see them, but it\u2019s not in places that they should be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Metro Police say they are in the process of interviewing people at the apartment complex.<\/p>\n

The investigation into the identity of the other two suspects continues, police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
