Monroe County homeowner shoots axe-wielding intruder, sheriff\u2019s office says<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nMONROE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) \u2014 A suspect in a home break-in is in the hospital, News 5 has learned.<\/p>\n

He was shot by a homeowner after entering their home with an axe, according to the Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

MCSO officials said they were called to a home in the Eureka Landing community around 2:40 a.m. on June 3 for a report of a break-in.<\/p>\n

When deputies arrived, they said they found the homeowner, who said that he shot the suspect in the torso in self-defense.<\/p>\n

Deputies said they were able to find the suspect behind the home with a gunshot wound, and he was taken to a local hospital.<\/p>\n

MCSO Sheriff Tom Boatwright said the homeowner is not expected to face charges due to their acting in self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

1 charged after shooting on Fern Avenue in Nashville<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) \u2014 Authorities responded to a shooting Monday morning just north of downtown Nashville.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, a report of gunshots fired on Fern Avenue was made just before 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg on the Fern Avenue overpass of Interstate 65. He was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

According to arrest documents, the shooting occurred after an altercation between several people at a party in a short-term rental.<\/p>\n

A man and woman in attendance said they were forced out of the party at gunpoint, prompting the woman to call authorities and report that she was robbed. While on the phone with emergency services, the suspects reportedly began firing shots at her and the man, who then allegedly pulled out his own weapon returned gunfire.<\/p>\n

Officers were in the area for several hours collecting evidence along the street and on the Interstate 65 overpass.<\/p>\n

Jaylin McNairy, 18, was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he was identified as the person who forced the woman outside at gunpoint. He was booked into Metro jail on a $75,000 bond. No additional information was immediately released.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
