PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Town of Fairmount Heights<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe Prince George\u2019s County Police Department\u2019s Homicide Unit assumed the investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in the town of Fairmount Heights this weekend. The decedent is identified as 30-year-old Edward Coates III of Temple Hills.<\/p>\n

On May 18, 2025, at approximately 4:00 am, officers responded to the 5700 block of J Street where they encountered two victims, a man and a woman, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both of their injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Officers also located Coates outside with multiple injuries to include a gunshot wound. He died a short time later at a hospital.<\/p>\n

The preliminary investigation revealed Coates was in the neighborhood attempting to break into cars. He and the male shooting victim encountered each other outside. Coates, who was armed with a gun, chased the male victim around a house where they got into a physical struggle over the weapon. Occupants in the home came outside to intervene. During the struggle, multiple shots were fired, and the two victims were struck. One of the occupants eventually gained control of the weapon and shot Coates.<\/p>\n

The Homicide Unit has been in consultation with the State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office. All parties have been identified, and at this time, there are no charges filed in this case.<\/p>\n

The Prince George\u2019s County Police Department investigates all homicides in the town of Fairmount Heights.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nHOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Investigators said a home break-in led to one man being killed and another leading police on a high-speed chase on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Houston Police Department said the series of events started just before 1 a.m. in a neighborhood near Ella and West Gulf Bank.<\/p>\n

A woman was with her boyfriend when she called the police, reporting that someone was trying to break into her home. He told her to go hide in the closet, where she stayed on the phone with the police.<\/p>\n

Investigators said two suspects kicked in the door, and the woman’s boyfriend shot and killed one of them. It turns out that the man who was shot was the woman’s ex-boyfriend.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the other man took off in a gray Jeep, was spotted by a patrol unit, and led police on a high-speed chase.<\/p>\n

That suspect went off road, into a bayou near Frick Road, and was arrested around 1 a.m.<\/p>\n

Houston police said the chase reached 100 mph at some point, and a pistol was recovered from the suspect.<\/p>\n

According to Lt. JP Horelica, the two people inside the house were not harmed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Houston gunowner fends off Third Ward attempted robbers, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nHOUSTON – Police believe a Houston gunowner shot one of three men who was trying to rob him on Monday night.<\/p>\n

The search is now on for the suspects.
\nWhat we know:<\/strong>
\nHouston police say a man and woman arrived at a town home on McIlhenny Street in the Third Ward around 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

Three men approached the pair with guns and announced that it was a robbery.<\/p>\n

The man pulled out a gun of his own and shots were fired.<\/p>\n

Police say blood was found at the scene.<\/p>\n

Officers believe one of the suspects may have been hit by gunfire before running.<\/p>\n

The male and female victims were not injured.<\/p>\n

\nPolice are checking local hospitals for anyone arriving with a gunshot wound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
