A new, scathing Pentagon report reveals the temporary pier the US military deployed to Gaza was more dangerous than previously known.<\/p>\n

The Pentagon\u2019s inspector general\u2019s office released a report that said a total of 62 people were injured during the deployment.<\/p>\n

The pier, called Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS), was ordered to be sent to Gaza by the White House in March of 2024 to help deliver humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n

From the beginning, it was obvious this was a bad choice.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON \u2014 Former President Joe Biden\u2019s failed floating Gaza pier plan left 62 US personnel injured, one service member dead and caused at least $31 million in damage to military equipment, according to a scathing Pentagon watchdog report that found the Army and Navy failed to properly plan, train for, prepare for and coordinate the mission.<\/p>\n

The project, which Biden announced during his 2024 State of the Union address amid mounting protests on the left over Israel\u2019s war against Hamas, sought to deliver humanitarian aid to the terrorist-controlled enclave \u2014 but ultimately was functional for just 20 days before being abandoned.<\/p>\n

The Defense Department Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) report, released late Tuesday, found that the military services were not adequately prepped for the mission \u2014 dubbed Operation Neptune Solace \u2014 but the project moved ahead despite the Army and Navy facing \u201clow equipment mission-capable rates and low manning and training levels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Army and Navy did not allocate sufficient maintenance, manning, [or] training,\u201d according to the report, which also found that the services \u201cdid not organize, train, and equip to a common joint standard\u201d for the so-called \u201cjoint logistics over-the-shore\u201d (JLOTS) operation.<\/p>\n

The disjointed nature of the effort contributed to 27 watercraft and other paraphernalia suffering damage costing $31 million to repair, the report found, as \u201cArmy- and Navy-specific equipment, including watercraft, piers, and causeways, as well as command, control, and communications systems was not interoperable.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week\u2019s report follows a similar review by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of the Inspector General from August 2024 \u2014 which found Biden charged ahead with the $230 million pier despite the urgings of multiple federal aid workers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
