Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth proudly announced last week that he was ending the “Women, Peace, and Security” program in the military.<\/p>\n
\u201cWPS is yet another woke divisive\/social justice\/Biden initiative that overburdens our commanders and troops \u2014 distracting from our core task: war fighting,\u201d Hegseth wrote in a social media post. \u201cWPS is a United Nations program pushed by feminists and left-wing activists. Politicians fawn over it; troops hate it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Now, I personally know little about it other than that it exists, so I am not going to try and debate the merits of it. But… it was a Trump program.<\/p>\n
The Trump Administration is committed to advancing women\u2019s equality, seeking to protect the rights of women and girls, and promoting women and youth empowerment\u00a0 programs. The United States Strategy on Women, Peace, and\u00a0 Security (WPS Strategy) responds to the Women, Peace, and Security Act of 2017, which President Donald J. The legislation for the program was drafted and supported by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, previously the congresswoman from South Dakota. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also been a strong supporter, including recently complimenting the program\u2019s impact within his department. Military Times<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Hegseth says the program has run amok and that the Democrats have warped it past its stated goals; meanwhile the current administration (which had plenty of time to cancel):<\/p>\n
Last week, U.S. military officials met in Japan with defense leaders from six Pacific countries for the third annual Women, Peace and Security workshop, designed to discuss ways to promote peace and security as well as women\u2019s issues.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
One would think that anyone who could generate a 6000+ man parade in six weeks could have cancelled the conference with 100 day’s (twice as long) to play with. Does seem to reinforce the perception that everyone’s out of step but Petey – or maybe that someone’s left hand doesn’t now what their right is doing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
