Chicago police shoot, critically injure wanted man armed with knife at River North hotel: CPD<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chicago police shot and critically injured a man armed with a knife at a downtown hotel on Monday afternoon, CPD said.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott, located at 30 East Hubbard Street in River North.<\/p>\n

Police said it all started when officers saw a man, who they described as a “wanted offender,” armed with a knife in the 0-100 block of West Hubbard Street.<\/p>\n

“I saw a guy with a knife on him and then five, four, six cops chasing him from the tunnel or the other street over there. I heard, ‘drop the knife, drop the knife’ multiple times. I was, I don’t know, 10 feet away from them,” said Pedro Priori, a witness who was walking to his bus stop. “Luckily, I didn’t get in between the thing, but I was very close.”<\/p>\n

The man fled from officers, who chased him into the hotel, police said. Officers deployed Tasers, but police said they were not effective.<\/p>\n

Police said the man disregarded officers’ directions and turned toward them, still holding the knife. Two officers then fired shots, striking him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Colorado Springs police responded to a shooting early Tuesday morning just before 3 a.m. in the 2100 block of East Willamette Avenue by North Union Boulevard and East Platte Avenue, according to an online police blotter entry.<\/p>\n

Police said a person drove past an occupied house twice and fired shots, which hit the home. One of the residents came outside and shot back at the vehicle, police said.<\/p>\n

The house was occupied by adults and children, police said.
\nNo one was injured in the shooting and no one was taken into custody.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
