Burglary suspect killed, deputy hurt in Southern California foot pursuit<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA vehicle burglary suspect was killed and a deputy was injured after a foot pursuit turned lethal in Southern California.<\/p>\n

The San Bernardino County Sheriff\u2019s Department said it was at 8:03 p.m. on Friday when a resident called in, reporting that someone was actively burglarizing his vehicle outside his home in the 100 block of Walnut Street.<\/p>\n

When the victim caught the suspect inside his vehicle, according to the report, the suspect took off \u2013 fleeing on foot.<\/p>\n

Two deputies in Needles responded to the call and found the suspect, later identified as Michael Ray Richard II, 39, of Phoenix, Ariz., walking in the area.<\/p>\n

As the deputies began detaining Richard, he pulled away and ran \u2013 initiating the foot pursuit.<\/p>\n

\u201cRichard jumped over walls and returned back to the patrol units, where he retrieved a bag he had been carrying at the time of his detainment,\u201d detailed the department in a release.<\/p>\n

When the deputies caught up with Richard, they realized he was armed with a handgun.<\/p>\n

\u201cRichard struggled with the deputies and fired the gun,\u201d explained SBSD. \u201cA lethal force encounter occurred, and Richard was struck by gunfire.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bystander\u2019s Armed Intervention Stops Stabbing Attack at New Hampshire McDonald\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNASHUA, NH \u2013 A bystander with a firearm intervened during a violent altercation involving a knife at a McDonald\u2019s in Nashua, New Hampshire.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night, a fight broke out between two groups who police believe knew each other, and it quickly escalated when 22-year-old Jose Vasquez repeatedly stabbed a 32-year-old man multiple times in the face and abdomen.<\/p>\n

Felix Marengo, a bystander eating in his car, witnessed the attack and intervened. He told WMUR reporter Maria Wilson, \u201cA guy started getting stabbed. I got out of my car and took my handgun out. As soon as they saw that, the stabber started running behind Wendy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vasquez surrendered to Nashua police the following day, and he was charged with first-degree assault. Vasquez\u2019s attorney said the victim was the initial aggressor, so it will be interesting to see what the final charges will be.<\/p>\n

If the person who got stabbed was the initial aggressor, there is a possibility the judge could determine Vasquez acted in self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
