Those who choose to separate will receive voluntary separation pay, depending on years of service, and will not have to pay back bonus or incentive pay, according to the ALNAV released Thursday afternoon. Those eligible will receive voluntary pay twice the amount of involuntary pay.<\/p>\n<p>Only service members with more than six years of service, but no more than 20 years, are eligible. Those with 18 years of service, but no more than 20 years, are eligible for Temporary Early Retirement Authority, according to the ALNAV. Those with less than six years are not eligible for voluntary separation pay but will have the benefits of not needing to pay back incentive or bonus pay.<\/p>\n<p>The discharges will be honorable, reads the guidance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.usni.org\/2025\/03\/13\/navy-releases-transgender-separation-policy\">USNI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are stipulations for TERA eligibility of course- odd that I took much the same offer for rather different reasons, way back when.*cough*<br \/>\nWaivers may be submitted as well but the process seems to entail proving a lot of negatives, so good luck with that. The estimated number of sailors affected is unstated, but the total number of active and reserve transgender service members has been reported at 4,240.
