The Civilian Office of Police Accountability initially said the shooting occurred in the 3800 block of East 112th Street.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Chicago police said an officer with the South Chicago District and a Forest Preserves of Cook County police officer responded to a call of a male armed with a knife chasing someone.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, the city officer was approached by a male wielding a knife who \u201cthen quickly advanced toward\u201d the officer, according to the statement. Police said the officer attempted to distance himself from the man in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, but that the officer fired a shot.<\/p>\n<p>The man, of unknown age, was struck somewhere on the body and the officers applied a tourniquet before he was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and initially reported in critical condition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>0 \/ 1 \/ 0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/person-critically-wounded-police-east-214500054.html\">Yahoo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I imagine he was struck somewhere on the body where a tourniquet would do some good. (WCJB) &#8211; Friends and family have identified the man that Lake City Police Department officers say was shot while breaking into a home on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Lake City Police Department officers say they found a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound at a home on Southwest Leslie Glen around 11 p.m. Friends and family identified the man on social media as Langston Sykes, aka Lanko. He was an MMA fighter with the ring name \u201cBlaze.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officers say he broke into the home while multiple people, including children, were inside.
