Police fatally shoot chainsaw-wielding man at St. Charles senior living facility, officials say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nST. CHARLES, Ill. (WLS) — A chainsaw-wielding man was shot and killed by police Sunday morning in the west suburbs, officials said.<\/p>\n

The officer-involved shooting happened in the 900 block of North 5th Avenue at the River Glen of St. Charles senior living facility, St. Charles police said.<\/p>\n

A shirtless man was reportedly attempting to cut down a tree outside around 8:45 a.m. of the building before he then entered the senior living facility, police said. The suspect then began to confront senior home residents with his chainsaw, according to responding officers.<\/p>\n

Police deployed a taser after attempts to de-escalate the situation failed, officials said. The man then allegedly continued his attack on tenants and officers.<\/p>\n

At that point, an officer shot the suspect with his service weapon, St. Charles police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nWinston-Salem police said they responded to a reported shooting around 8 p.m. on Thursday.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. \u2014 A man has been charged after a shooting in Winston-Salem.<\/p>\n

Detectives said Jayven Shane Helton, 21, of Conover, went to 199 Northwest Boulevard and fired a gun at several people in the area.<\/p>\n

Another person fired back at Helton and struck him. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.<\/p>\n

Helton was charged with the following:<\/p>\n

Felony assault with the intent to kill or inflict serious injury
\nMisdemeanor assault by pointing a gun (3 counts)
\nMisdemeanor vandalism of personal property
\nMisdemeanor armed to terror of the citizens
\nMisdemeanor discharging a firearm within city limits<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Person shot, killed in Mid-City armed robbery<\/strong><\/p>\n

A suspect in an armed robbery in the Mid-City area was fatally shot by a security guard Friday, and the guard was wounded.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred about 10:15 a.m. at a strip mall in the 5900 block of Venice Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.<\/p>\n

According to police, two suspects went into a check-cashing business at the strip mall and confronted a security guard and the business owner. A struggle over money ensued, and a suspect — described only as a 25-year-old man — shot the 40-year-old security guard, who returned fire, striking the suspect.<\/p>\n

The suspect died at the scene, police said, while the guard was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.<\/p>\n

The second suspect ran from the area and was still being sought as of Friday evening.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
