So she got on the phone, with him believing she was the daughter, and arranged to meet with him at 7 a.m. at the Popeyes at 649 S. McDuff Ave. to confront him.

She showed up with her daughter and 11-year-old son, but he instead “confronts them with a pistol in his waistband, lifts it and says, ‘When you hear the shots tonight, you’ll know what’s up,'” Parker said.

She took her children inside the Popeyes to call the police, and he went around the back of the restaurant. When an officer pulled up in the back, the 18-year-old was still there even though he had plenty of time to leave, Parker said.

The officer ordered him to turn around and show his hands, but he “slowly turns his back to the officer and he takes off running around the back of the business,” the chief said. “So the officer takes off in a foot pursuit. As he hits the corner, he sees the suspect pull the pistol from his waistband. He yells for him, ‘Drop, stop, gun, gun, gun,’ engages suspect; he [the officer] shoots multiple times. The suspect continues around the neighboring business, then drops the gun. He continues running. The officer tracks him and loses sight of him.”

The other officers had set up a perimeter and brought in a K-9 and they soon found him in a drainage culvert. They called him out without further incident and began medical aid. He was shot in the torso, hand and possibly a leg but was in stable condition, Parker said.

He said it didn’t appear that he had exchanged gunfire with the officer. Detectives also recovered the gun.

0 / 1 / 0
Yahoo

The pic of the firearm Mr. Banks brought explains why the bullets all went one way.
