Bowie Knife<\/a><\/p>\n CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) \u2014 A home invasion turns deadly in Champaign after a homeowner fires his weapon.<\/p>\n On November 10, around 4:10 a.m., Champaign Police went to a house in the 1200 block of Harrington Drive after receiving a report of a home invasion.<\/p>\n Officers said they located two men hurt at the house and began to administer emergency aid with the help of crews from the Champaign Fire Department.<\/p>\n The resident of the home had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the arm and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.<\/p>\n The other man, who did not live at the home, died at the scene. The Champaign County Coroner later identified him as Emmanuel Becerril-Perez, a 21-year-old of Urbana.<\/p>\n Police said the initial investigation showed the homeowner fired multiple shots at the intruder and got hurt during the struggle.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 Wrong house.<\/p>\n Shoplifter carrying knife shot by special police officer near DC store, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n Story by Sana Azem At around 7:45 p.m., officers said they responded to a report of a shooting in the 6900 block of Fourth Street. When they arrived, D.C. officials determined that a Special Police Officer working in the area had “confronted a shoplifting suspect.” During the confrontation, the shoplifter allegedly brandished a knife, which led the officer involved to fire his gun, striking him.<\/p>\n The alleged shoplifter was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
