The Telegraph reports that our favorite Squad member has scored yet another brilliant coup, a campaign flyer in Arabic.\u00a0 She just goes from strength to strength, doesn’t she?<\/p>\n
She has since deleted an image of the flyer from social media in which she implored Arab voters to register and cast their ballot early ahead of the Nov 5 presidential election.<\/p>\n
The campaign leaflet was also made available in different languages, including English, Bengali and Chinese.<\/p>\n
Ms Ocasio-Cortez, a New York congresswoman, widely known as AOC, is a vocal pro-Palestinian politician and opposes Israel\u2019s war in Gaza.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Given that there are several boatloads of Arabic or Arabic-speaking constituents in her district, this was probably a good move. Plus, as a virulent anti-Israel pol, it should just give that much more cred for her Hamas constituents. Except for one small detail…<\/p>\n
But her Arabic campaign material features characters that have been placed in reverse order and are disconnected from each other \u2013 a fundamental mistake in Arabic script. The language\u2019s letters should be in a smooth form from right to left.<\/p>\n
Meir Javedanfar, a professor of Iranian studies at Reichman University, said: \u201cMuch like her knowledge of the Middle East, the Arabic on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez flyers is gibberish and written backwards.\u201d\u00a0 The Telegraph<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
