State Hwy. Patrol trooper from Sikeston charged with mult. felonies, accused of invasion of privacy

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, based in southeast Missouri, was charged with felonies in two counties.

According to MSHP, David L. McKnight, 39, is on special administrative leave with no pay.

He was charged in Scott County with five felony counts of invasion of privacy. His bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.

He also faces a felony charge of invasion of privacy in New Madrid County. His bond on that charge was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

McKnight bonded out of the Ste. Genevieve County Jail on Thursday, August 22.

In New Madrid County, court records show he waived his first appearance and entered a not-guilty plea. A new court date has been set for September 19.

In Scott County, according to court records, his first appearance is still scheduled for August 27.

McKnight is accused of using his personal cell phone to take pictures and videos of the cell phones of people he came into contact with during traffic stops.

According to court documents filed in McKnight’s case, the trooper allegedly captured images of those phones that included women partially or fully nude.

Court records indicate the five victims in Scott County are adult females and the sixth is a romantic partner of one of the women. Those alleged incidents happened from September 2023 through April 2024.

In New Madrid County, according to court records, there was one female victim.

At least two women have posted online about their recent experiences with McKnight.

We spoke with one of them on Thursday.

“It made me feel gross. Like, just, and I’m not knowing what he’s seen. And not knowing if he took those photos from my phone. It was just, it was really bad. I, I’m sorry, it’s hard to talk about.,” Emily Northern said.

See her full interview here.

According to an arrest report on the MSHP website, McKnight, from Sikeston, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21 in Scott County.

Scott County’s prosecuting attorney confirmed McKnight serves locally as a trooper.

Source; KFVS

Driver eating chicken wings rear ends MSP patrol vehicle in Detroit

A 73-year-old man was attempting to eat his chicken wings while driving when he rear ended a Michigan State Police vehicle on Wednesday.

The driver, from Detroit, rear ended a Metro South trooper who was stopped in the left center lane for a red light around 3:15 p.m., traveling southbound on the John C. Lodge Service Drive at West Grand Boulevard, according to the MSP Second District on X.

No one was injured, police said. The vehicles involved sustained minor damage.

“It is important to remember to focus on driving when behind the wheel.” said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw in the release. “Driving distracted, in this case, eating wings, is a risky driving behavior that leads to preventable crashes.”

The driver was issued a citation for the incident.

Source; Fox 2 Detroit

Man fleeing from St. Paul police struck by car on Interstate 35E

Police say a driver struck a man trying to flee from officers on a Twin Cities freeway early Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 1400 block of Klainert Street in St. Paul for a domestic incident just after 12 p.m., according to the city’s police department.

Upon the officers’ arrival, the suspect fled on a bicycle down Wheelock Parkway, toward southbound Interstate 35E. The man was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross the roadway, police say.

The suspect suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment. The St. Paul Police Department says he was then booked into the Ramsey County Jail for previous warrants and for fleeing police.

No other injuries were reported.

Source; CBS News

Florida man who killed neighbor over dog poop erupts at widow in courtroom outburst: ‘He cried like a baby’

A Florida man cruelly yelled that his neighbor “cried like a baby” in front of the man’s widow, explaining during a wild, caught-on-camera courtroom outburst why he killed him.

Omar Rodriguez was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after he was convicted of second-degree murder and aggravated assault for the June 2015 shooting of Jose Rey.

As Rey’s widow, Lissette, read a statement at the hearing, Rodriguez rose from his chair and began shouting, causing several people in the courtroom to gasp.

“The coward was your husband,” Rodriguez yelled out, according to a video obtained by NBC Miami. “That’s why I killed him … he cried like a baby.”

Several law enforcement officers pulled Rodriguez out of the courtroom and placed him in a holding cell as he continued shouting furiously.

Moments earlier, Lissette Rey had pleaded with Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Milton Hirsch to give Rodriguez the maximum sentence.

“I beg Your Honor, the harshest sentence imposed to the coward, the murderer,” she said.

After the handcuffed, orange prison suit-clad Rodriguez was removed, Rey continued her statement as the murderer’s voice rang throughout the courthouse.

“I wish though the death sentence would have been on the table, but at the end of the day, Mr. Rodriguez will continue to see his family, they will be able to see him, I’ll never get to see my husband again,” Lissette Rey said. “I wasn’t listening to exactly to what he was saying, I was tuning him out, I was just reading my thoughts. His words are irrelevant. He is irrelevant in my life right now. He’s pond scum.”

The jury in Rodriguez’s case had removed the possibility of capital punishment, leaving Hirsch the only option for a life prison sentence, with a minimum of 25 years, meaning the 75-year-old will remain behind bars for the rest of his life.

While Rodriguez wasn’t giving the sentence Lissette Rey was looking for, she still wished ill toward her husband’s killer.

“I pray he spends the rest of his pitiful existence in prison,” the grieving wife told the judge, according to the Miami Herald. “He’s a narcissistic piece of s–t.”

Jose Rey, 52, was walking in his Kendall neighborhood when his dog popped a squat on the lawn of Rodriguez’s son.

Neighbors told police they heard two men loudly arguing before Rey threatened to return and fight him.

Rey had dropped off his dog at home and continued the walk with his wife when they were confronted by a shirtless Rodriguez, the outlet reported.

Jose Rey was shot three times and Rodriguez threatened Lissette, who went to comfort her husband.

Rey succumbed to his injuries over a week later.

Rodriguez had asked for immunity in the case under Florida’s so-called “Stand Your Ground” law, but in 2021 a judge ruled he didn’t believe Rodriguez acted in self-defense, according to WTVJ.

The convicted killer alleged Rey threatened him with a knife, but prosecutors argued Rodriguez had attempted to plant the knife in his victim’s hand.

Rodriguez has been accused of treating his neighbors poorly, with one writing to then-Gov. Lawton Chiles that the man had declared “war” on neighbors and once threatened a lawn worker with a machete.

This guy has been treating neighborhoods and everything else so badly, he got what he deserved,” Sergio Garcia told the Miami Herald after the sentencing.

“I wish that the death sentence would have been on the table,” Garcia’s wife added. “At least he’ll be behind bars and can’t hurt anyone else.”

Source; Slate Report

Woman with ‘Trump’ tattoo on forehead takes drastic measures to have it removed after ‘hate’

A Donald Trump fan who made headlines for tattooing the ex-President’s last name on her forehead is now crowdfunding to get it removed.

Rain Monroe, a 21-year-old influencer, left people astounded last month with her extreme show of allegiance to the 2024 Republican Party candidate. However, she has now admitted that the backlash is taking its toll and she’s contemplating spending thousands to get rid of the ink job.

This week, Rain took to Instagram to share her plight, holding a sign that read: “Need money for tattoo removal” in a series of posts. With Trump’s name still etched across her forehead, she was spotted in London where she appealed to passers-by for financial help.

“The hate from people has affected me,” confessed British-born Rain. “I am raising money for the removal to be able to remove it. It can cost up to $5,000 (£3,814 approximately).”

However, she went on to admit: “I’m not getting the tattoo removed [yet] just weighing my options to see what’s best for me moving forward. But I also have so much support, so that’s why I don’t know [if I’ll remove it] yet. I love my supporters.”.

In one snap shared with her 19,000 followers, Rain appeaeds downcast as she sat on the pavement with her plea scrawled on cardboard. The post had supporters and detractors alike weigh in on the controversial tattoo and her decision to either keep or remove it.

A passionate supporter pleaded: “Don’t remove it! Best tattoo ever.” While another added: “Keep it! You’re a legend now.” A third agreed: “No removal needed.”

However, a critic remarked: “She just did this for clout and now she wants it removed. That’s funny you can keep it girly.” Another simply wrote: “Let her live with her decision,” meanwhile a third added: “She’s trying to troll everyone at this point.”

In a follow-up video, Rain held an impromptu street survey where she asked passers-by about the price of their own forehead. “Would you get a Trump tattoo on your forehead for a million pounds?” she asked.

One person responded: “Make it 10 million and then maybe.” Another firmly stated: “Never.” Rain, who originally got inked at an East London tattoo parlour, has since taken to social media once more to add: “Still proud of my Trump tattoo, but exploring my options.

“Been getting some second opinions from my therapist about whether to keep it or consider removal.
