Homeowner shoots suspected intruder during burglary in Pettis County<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA homeowner in Pettis County shot and killed an intruder during a burglary early Friday morning, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

Deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident near Anderson School Road and Shire Lane around 1 a.m. and were alerted to a nearby burglary in progress.<\/p>\n

The homeowner reported that an unknown individual had forced entry into his residence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. \u2014
\nTwo people are in custody after a burglary and shooting inside a Lee’s Summit home Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Police were called to a home on Northwest Chipman Road, south of Interstate 470, around 7:30 a.m. for a burglary call.<\/p>\n

The homeowner told police that a man broke into the home and refused to leave. The homeowner shot the man. The suspect then got into a car and left the scene.<\/p>\n

Officers later stopped the vehicle and took the two people inside it into custody. The suspect was taken to a hospital and is being treated for minor injuries.<\/p>\n

Detectives do not believe that the homeowner and the suspect knew each other.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
