A dim-witted tourist dumped water on ancient cave paintings to snap better photos for social media \u2014 and is now under investigation after posting the shots of the damaged historic art, according to cops.<\/p>\n
The unidentified 39-year-old man from Los Villares, Spain, wanted \u201cclearer\u201d and brighter images of the priceless works, which were sketched in the country\u2019s Sierra Sur de Ja\u00e9n mountain range thousands of years ago, local law enforcement said.<\/p>\n
To get the perfect shot, he tossed the liquid on the precious paintings \u2014 part of a site that\u2019s been deemed \u201chistorically significant\u201d by the country\u2019s heritage group \u2014 and later posted the wet images on Facebook, according to Guardia Civil\u2019s nature protection force.<\/p>\n
The ancient art is made on limestone, which contains water-soluble salts that dissolve in liquid, leaving a crust that causes \u201cirreparable damage\u201d to the paintings, officials said, according to The Daily Beast.<\/p>\n
The aqua-tossing twit is now in hot water as the agency investigates him.<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t immediately clear when the vandalism took place or what the specific art depicted, but some cave art from the area shows faded stick-figure like designs smudged in black.<\/p>\n
Some of the paintings in the breathtaking mountain range are believed to be more 6,000 years old.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mississippi attorney accused of bringing contraband into correctional facility<\/h3>\n
A Mississippi attorney was arrested on Thursday, August 8 for allegedly trying to introduce contraband into a correctional facility.<\/p>\n
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones announced Daniel Sidney Dale was charged with two counts of conspiracy and three counts of introduction of contraband to a correctional facility.<\/p>\n
The sheriff said Dale was posing as legal counsel for some Hinds County detainees and was allegedly smuggling cellphones and other contraband during visitations.<\/p>\n
During a visitation on Thursday, Jones said Dale was found to be in possession of several items of contraband and cellphones. He was detained, questioned and later charged.<\/p>\n
\u201cAttorney Dale, in a trusted position responsible for the constitutional rights of arrested suspects, jeopardized the safety and integrity of the Hinds County Detention Facilities and the public. This investigation is ongoing and more charges and\/or arrests are possible,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n
Dale made his initial appearance in court on Friday, August 9. His bond was set at $75,000.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Owl at Minnesota Zoo eaten by tiger after it flies away from handler<\/h3>\n
A Eurasian eagle owl from the Minnesota Zoo flew away from a handler during a training session and was eaten by a tiger.<\/p>\n
The incident, outlined in an inspection report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, happened in April of this year.<\/p>\n
The handler was training the owl for a bird show, but it failed to come back and landed in the outdoor tiger enclosure, where it was eaten.<\/p>\n
“Animal welfare is a top priority in all facets of Zoo operations. This was a tragic incident and the Zoo has been working closely with its free-flight bird training partners to review our policies and procedures,” said Zach Nugent, communication and media relations manager at the Minnesota Zoo.<\/p>\n
He added that the owl that was eaten was in the beginning stages of its training.<\/p>\n
“Our care and training program for all of the free-flight ambassador birds in our care is based on many years of experience training free-flight birds. We recognize that every animal is an individual and as such, we build programs around their individualized flight skill, experience, and general adaptability for being included in a free-flight program,” Nugent said.<\/p>\n
The incident report instructs the zoo to develop and maintain flight training that ensures animals are handled in a way that prevents physical trauma and harm.<\/p>\n
It’s the second time in three years that a Eurasian eagle owl died after flying away from the zoo. In 2021, Gladys flew off a tree during a training session and was found days later on the side of the road. She was injured and the zoo’s veterinary team was unable to save her.<\/p>\n
The report by the agriculture department also instructed the zoo to create a contingency plan for animals in case of shelter-in-place emergencies. It also noted that the camel enclosure was in disrepair and the feed supply garbage bay was contaminated by pests. The camel enclosure was fixed during the inspection.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
