Police searching for armed robbery suspect after shootout near Buckhead condo<\/strong>
\nATLANTA \u2014 Police are still searching for a man who robbed a U.S. Postal worker at gunpoint on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The robbery then led to a shootout, turning the Eclipse apartment complex near Buckhead Village into a battleground.<\/p>\n

In broad daylight, a masked man allegedly tried to steal the keys from a post office worker in this garage. But when a bystander saw what was going on, he shot at the suspect, who then fired back.<\/p>\n

Residents recalled the moments of the shooting.

\nKarim Cadoo had \u201cno choice but to react, no choice but to defend himself,\u201d his lawyer argued.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nKarim Cadoo admitted he shot a man in the back with a shotgun at close range in a Scarborough parking lot, before shooting another man twice \u2014 the second time while he was already mortally wounded on the ground.<\/p>\n

The incident on the evening of June 13, 2021 was partly caught on video \u2014 but it was self-defence, Cadoo would later tell the jury at his murder trial. Mohamed Moallim, 23, and Daniel Fung, 25, were armed, Cadoo testified \u2014 although no guns belonging to the victims were found at the scene \u2014 and he feared for the life of a friend he was with.<\/p>\n

The jury believed him.<\/p>\n

Last week, Cadoo was acquitted of two counts of first-degree murder, as were his alleged accomplices, his brother Elvis Cadoo and Elvis\u2019s friend, Imron Samuel.<\/p>\n

By finding the trio not guilty, the jurors rejected the Crown\u2019s theory that this was a co-ordinated \u201cambush\u201d in which Karim Cadoo shot the victims while Elvis Cadoo and Samuel, both armed, blocked the escape route.<\/p>\n

After spending three years in custody, Samuel, 40, and Elvis Cadoo, 27, walked out of the prisoner\u2019s box after the verdict last Wednesday evening. Karim Cadoo, a 29-year-old appliance deliveryman with no criminal record, was released the following day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
