Starting off the week – remember Andrew Cuomo? Former Democrat governor of New York? (No, not former Democrat, former gov.) Had some, what we call “real interesting” things to say this week about Trump’s trial.<\/p>\n
Cuomo, in an interview Friday on HBO\u2019s \u201cReal Time with Bill Maher,\u201d argued that the case should have \u201cnever\u201d been brought forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf his name was not Donald Trump <\/span>and if he wasn\u2019t running for president\u2026 I\u2019m the former AG of in New York [and] I\u2019m telling you that case would\u2019ve never been brought.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Damn near spewed my drink on THAT one.<\/p>\n
The case was brought by Manhattan District Attorney\u00a0Alvin Bragg\u00a0(D), who has been repeatedly accused by Trump and his allies of unfairly targeting him as the presumptive GOP prepares for a rematch against President Biden <\/span>in November.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s guilty verdict was unanimous among the 12 jurors, though allies of the former president have tried to pour cold water on its legitimacy, pointing to what they believe was a biased judge and jury selection process.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Many have suggested that those ‘unbiased ‘ jurors were as impartial as Hamas leaders at a bris…nice to see someone else imply that.<\/p>\n
Cuomo was elected as New York\u2019s attorney general in 2007 and went on to serve as the state\u2019s governor for 11 years. The former governor resigned from office in 2021 after an investigation into sexual harassment allegations and backlash over his COVID-19 pandemic polices. Cuomo has denied the accusations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Don’t think much of any of the Cuomo’s personally, but as far as Democrat royalty is concerned the name of Cuomo certainly ranks up there in the big-league ranks (and unlike Kennedy, hadn’t fallen on any apostates.)<\/p>\n
It’s difficult to argue something negative is a “cheap, made-up fiction” like the White House is wont to do, when the person saying it publicly in front of however many millions watch Maher live on TV is of the party elite.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd you want to talk about a threat to democracy: when you have this country believing you\u2019re playing politics with the justice system and you\u2019re trying to put people in jail or convict them for political reasons, then we have a real problem,\u201d Cuomo said Friday.\u00a0\u00a0 The Hill<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
