Lufkin man shot and killed after attempting to steal truck with baby inside<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nLUFKIN \u2014 A man was shot and killed last night in Lufkin after attempting to steal a truck with a woman and her baby inside.<\/p>\n

Lufkin police say Marco Leyva, 25, was with his wife and baby daughter when they stopped at his business in the 1800 block of Lufkin Avenue around 9 p.m. Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Leyva told police that when he stopped at his business, a man got inside the truck with his wife and daughter. After a physical altercation, he shot the man.<\/p>\n

The man identified as Jarvis Houston, 47, of Lufkin died later in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Police discovered that Houston was released from the Angelina County jail less than an hour prior to the shooting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mr. Houston’s victim selection skills, if any, were apparently dulled while in jail. Sad.<\/p>\n

Man shot and arrested on city’s West Side Tuesday<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nCORPUS CHRISTI, Tx \u2014 Corpus Christi Police were called out to a home in the 1200 block of Mendoza Street in the city’s West Side on Tuesday at 3:42 p.m., according to a police report.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived they found a 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. Medics took the man to a Shoreline Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, the man, identified as Jose Villarreal, was found to have assaulted his 32-year-old girlfriend. The girlfriend got a handgun and shot Villarreal in an effort to protect herself from further harm.<\/p>\n

The female was also taken to the hospital by medics with serious injuries.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
