Yet, for some visitors, the ultimate thrill seems to be the elusive—and dangerous—encounter with a Grizzly bear.

One recent visitor’s complaint highlighted this bizarre desire, as they expressed disappointment over not witnessing a bear sighting that could have led to a life-threatening mauling.

Of course, tourists pay good money for the Yellowstone experience, and the National Parks Service works tirelessly to meet expectations while ensuring safety. Yet, the reality is that habituated bears, while often spotted near roadsides, remain wild animals capable of inflicting serious harm. The National Parks Service has clear guidelines to protect both visitors and bears:

“Habituated bears are still wild bears and capable of inflicting serious injury or death. For your safety, remain within your vehicle when viewing and photographing roadside habituated bears. Always pull completely off of the road into paved pull-outs when stopping to view bears. Make sure your vehicle is in park and that you engage your emergency brake. Never approach, crowd, or surround bears. Running in the presence of bears may trigger a chase and attack response. Proper viewing and photographing etiquette will help keep both you and roadside habituated bears safe.” – The National Parks Service Official Bear Warning for Yellowstone National Park

Source; Unofficial Networks

Fraud investigators caught committing fraud on a grant to combat fraud

A San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office investigator is on paid leave amid allegations of fraud.

According to a news release from the district attorney’s office, potential fraud was flagged after an audit of the 2024 Auto Insurance Fraud Grant Application.

The district attorney’s office says the audit found an investigator within the office was allegedly falsifying timesheet information to justify the office’s receipt of grant funds.

The investigator told them they had done it at the ‘urging’ of the prior district attorney’s office administration.

District Attorney Ron Freitas began auditing the Auto Insurance Fraud Grant Program in 2017 and asked the San Joaquin County Auditor’s Office to conduct its own audit, too.

“We pledge to cooperate fully with the California Department of Insurance, the Office of the Attorney General and the San Joaquin County Auditor’s Office, to ascertain any wrongdoing, and return any monies that were fraudulently received by this Office via the Auto Insurance Fraud Grant Program,” said Freitas. “As soon as the alleged fraud was uncovered, we notified the California Department of Insurance, along with the Office of the Attorney General, in order to help correct the wrong that was committed and ensure that our Office is run with the highest ethical standards.”

The Auto Insurance Fraud Grant Program would give money to district attorney’s offices across the state to cover attorney’s fees, investigators, paralegals and other costs as it related to investigating and prosecuting auto insurance fraud.

Source; ABC10

Florida man convicted after admitting to heinous crime during job interview to become a police officer, facing life in prison

A Florida man, who aspired to become a police officer, admitted to sexually abusing his cousin during a police department job interview and now faces life in prison.

Stephen Bodley, 26, was convicted by an Orange County jury last week of sexual battery on a child, the office of State Attorney Andrew Bain said in a news release.

Bodley first mentioned “playing sexual games” in a sworn officer application with the Apopka Police Department.

He again mentioned the crime during an interview.

“The certified voice stress analysis examiner performed a voice stress examination on Bodley,” Bain said.

“During the examination, the examiner asked Bodley to expand on concerning answers he provided in a pre-test questionnaire.”

Bodley described sexually abusing a child years ago and admitted to it when he was asked to expand further.

Detectives tracked down the victim’s mother, who said Bodley and the victim had a close relationship, the Tampa Bay Times reported, citing an affidavit.

Fox News Digital has reached out to prosecutors.

The victim, a female, told the Florida Department of Children and Families about the abuse, saying it took place over several years, from when Bodley was around 14 to when he was about 19, the newspaper reported.

Bodley’s lawyer asked that his confession not be presented during trial, but a judge denied the request.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24.

The conviction carries a sentence of up to life in prison.

Source; NY Post

MNPD officer fired after groping adult content creator in fake traffic stop stunt

Metro Nashville police say they fired now former officer Sean Herman on Wednesday after video surfaced of him groping a woman’s breasts while in uniform during a fake traffic stop.

The video — titled “Can’t believe he didn’t arrest me” — was originally posted by a woman named Jordin who was sitting in the driver’s seat.
