Police say masked man killed in apparent drug robbery in St. Johnsbury as search continues for suspect<\/strong>
\nAuthorities said they are awaiting the results of an autopsy, expected to take place Wednesday, before releasing the identity of the deceased man.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nST. JOHNSBURY \u2014 Vermont State Police said an apparent robbery over illegal drugs turned deadly Monday night when a man wearing a mask tried to break into a St. Johnsbury apartment and was shot and killed by a person inside the residence who then fled the scene.<\/p>\n

Capt. Jeremy Hill of the state police said during a Tuesday afternoon press briefing that he was still awaiting autopsy results from the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Burlington before releasing the name of the man who was killed.<\/p>\n

Hill said he expected that autopsy to take place Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

He also said the search of the shooter remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know the exact circumstances but it does appear to be drug related,\u201d Hill said of the shooting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. \u2014 A man was shot and later charged after breaking into a home in Castle Point in north St. Louis County, according to police.<\/p>\n

Andre Farrar III, 27, was charged by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted burglary and resisting arrest with a felony. He was being held on a $200,00 cash-only bond.<\/p>\n

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers were called shortly before 4 a.m. to the 2200 block of Empress Drive for a burglary.<\/p>\n

Farrar had unlawfully entered the home and attempted to steal property by throwing it out the window, but was shot by the homeowner, a probable cause statement said. A man and woman who live in the home were inside at the time, Lt. Craig Higginbotham with the St. Louis County Police Department said.<\/p>\n

Local attorney Anders Walker told 5 On Your Side that the homeowner was likely well within their rights to open fire.<\/p>\n

“In your home, all you need is a reasonable fear that you might get hurt,” Walker said. It “doesn’t have to be serious. You can shoot.”<\/p>\n

The suspect then ran from the home past responding officers who were ordering him to stop and stating that he was being placed under arrest, police said. A police K-9 was used to search the area.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
