NJ Senate Candidate Deletes Post Blaming \u2018Climate Crisis\u2019 for Northeastern Earthquake<\/h3>\n

ocial media erupted with criticism when a Green Party member, who is a candidate running for Senate in New Jersey, pointed to the \u201cclimate crisis\u201d as the reason behind the recent earthquake in the Northeast.<\/p>\n

The New York Post reported Saturday that Christina Amira Khalil wrote the post not long after the area felt the quake that was followed by several aftershocks on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI experienced my first earthquake in NJ. We never get earthquakes. The climate crisis is real. The weirdest experience ever,\u201d her post read:<\/p>\n

Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on Khalil\u2018s message, one person writing, \u201cShe skipped science class.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe probably thinks Guam is going to flip over, too,\u201d someone else commented, while another person said, \u201cMore lies to scare everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

So-called \u201cclimate change\u201d and earthquakes are not connected because an earthquake happens when tectonic plates hit each other underneath the Earth\u2019s surface, the Post article continued, citing NASA:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that most earthquakes occur far beneath Earth\u2019s surface, well beyond the influence of surface temperatures and conditions,\u201d Alan Buis of NASA\u2019s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know the statistical distribution of earthquakes is approximately equal across all types of weather conditions. Myth busted.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, officials said there were approximately 18 aftershocks from the 4.8 magnitude earthquake, and tremors were felt from Washington, DC, to New York City, to Maine, per Breitbart News.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the earthquake hit, officials began working to determine if there was any damage incurred, according to Breitbart News. However, authorities reported very slight or no damage, and the NYPD said no one was reported to be injured,\u201d the outlet said.<\/p>\n

Clips recorded inside people\u2019s homes and other areas show their reactions when the earthquake happened. One woman appears to be in her kitchen with her dog, according to NBC New York.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was an earthquake. Oh my god! What in the world was that? That was an earthquake, Lucy!\u201d she tells the dog who also seems to be slightly confused by the quake:<\/p>\n

ABC\u2019s Hostin Links Eclipses, Earthquakes, Cicadas to Climate Change<\/h3>\n

Not to be outdone, The View takes the stupid up a level.<\/p>\n

ABC legal analyst Sunny Hostin said Monday on ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View\u201d that eclipses, earthquakes and cicadas could \u201clead one to believe\u201d that \u201cclimate change exists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Partial transcript as follows:<\/p>\n

HOSTIN: I know, right? I have to say, one of our wonderful makeup artists\u2026when the earthquake was happening, she put her coat on and she was, like, Jesus is coming. I\u2019m out. I\u2019m leaving. We got a solar eclipse. We\u2019ve got an earthquake. She ran down the hallway.<\/p>\n

GRIFFIN: The Rapture is here!<\/p>\n

HOSTIN: The Rapture is here. Also, I learned that the cica-ah-das are coming.<\/p>\n

GOLDBERG: Cicadas.<\/p>\n

HOSTIN: For the first time in a hundred years.<\/p>\n

GOLDBERG: No, no, no, no. There\u2019s two different kinds coming. There\u2019s two different kinds of cicadas coming.<\/p>\n

BEHAR: The good cicadas and the bad cicadas.<\/p>\n

HOSTIN: This is for the first time in many, many years.<\/p>\n

GOLDBERG: No, every 17 years this happens.<\/p>\n

HOSTIN: That\u2019s not what I read, but maybe, you know, maybe you know better.<\/p>\n

GOLDBERG: In a way.<\/p>\n

HOSTIN: All those things together, would maybe lead one to believe that either climate change exists, or something is really going on.<\/p>\n

BEHAR: Earthquakes are not at the mercy of climate change. It\u2019s underground.<\/p>\n

GOLDBERG: The eclipse, and they\u2019ve known about the eclipse coming because eclipses happen and they actually can say when these things are going to happen. So all these folks who are saying, you know, it\u2019s a sign from God \u2014 God doesn\u2019t give you warning. Ok? You think he gave people at the Tower of Babble a warning? \u201cOh, I\u2019m about to jack y\u2019all up?\u201d No. God does stuff and then you figure, oh.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee: Sun Is \u2018Almost\u2019 Impossible to Go Near, Moon \u2018Made Up Mostly of Gases\u2019<\/h3>\n

Then, to make Hostin look like a genius, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee proves she’s perhaps one of the dumbest people in the country.<\/p>\n

Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) is under fire for remarks she made about the moon and sun on Monday, concluding that the former is \u201cmade up mostly of gases\u201d and asserting that it is \u201calmost\u201d impossible to go near the sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve heard the word full moon. Sometimes you need to take the opportunity just to come out and see a full moon is that complete rounded circle, which is made up mostly of gases,\u201d Jackson Lee claimed during a recent appearance at the Booker T. Washington High School in Houston.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s why the question is why or how could we, as humans, live on the moon? Are the gases such that we could do that?\u201d she asked students before switching gears to the sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sun is a mighty powerful heat,\u201d she said, telling students it is \u201calmost impossible to go near the sun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moon is more manageable. And you will see\u2026in a couple of years that NASA is going back to the moon,\u201d she said, offering other head-scratching facts ahead of the eclipse:<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think we\u2019ve been on the moon the last 50 years. So we will be landing on the moon. What you\u2019ll see today will be the closest distance that the moon has ever been in the last 20 years, which means that\u2019s why they will shut the light down because they will be close to the Earth.<\/p>\n

Jackson Lee added that she would like to be the \u201cfirst in line to know how to live and to be able to survive on the moon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her remarks generated plenty of mockery, particularly given that she once reigned as the top Democrat on the House Science Committee\u2019s space subcommittee.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow are these the people running our country,\u201d one person asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe criticizes others for being unintelligent,\u201d another mocked.<\/p>\n

\u201cListening to this hurt,\u201d another added as others piled on:<\/p>\n

Jackson Lee corrected her remarks in a statement to the New York Post, claiming she \u201cmisspoke and meant to say the sun, but as usual, Republicans are focused on stupid things instead of stuff that really matters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat can I say though, foolish thinkers lust for stupidity!\u201d Jackson Lee said of her GOP critics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should be focusing on issues like prenatal care, building more affordable housing, and more reduction of student loan debt as President Joe Biden is,\u201d the congresswoman continued, claiming that she cares \u201cmore about these children who would not have experienced the eclipse in this enthusiastic manner.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I care more about protecting the rights of women and children than engaging in this kind of senseless dialogue!\u201d she added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
