A Pocahontas man is in a Memphis hospital after police say he was shot.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around midnight on Monday, April 1 at the Oak Creek Apartments.<\/p>\n

Detective Trason Johnson said the \u201cheavily intoxicated\u201d man was shot by Davis Woods out of self-defense.<\/p>\n

The victim was taken to a Memphis hospital for treatment of his wounds. Johnson did not know his condition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Suspect found dead hours after Whitehaven apartment complex shooting that left 1 critical<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nMEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A man is fighting for his life after he was shot at a Whitehaven apartment complex Monday afternoon. Memphis police say the shooter, who knew the victim, was found dead hours after he allegedly barricaded himself inside an apartment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe live in Memphis. This is our hometown. We got to straighten up,\u201d said Quince, a Whitehaven resident.<\/p>\n

At 3:56 p.m., officers were called to the scene at New Horizon Apartments off Millbranch Road. Police say the shooting happened within the complex along Long Bow Drive.<\/p>\n

Police say the incident involved a dispute between three people \u2014 two men outside an apartment, and one man inside. Police say the man inside the apartment fired shots at the two men outside, striking one.<\/p>\n

Bystanders on the scene tell Action News 5 that the victim appeared to be a security guard. He was rushed to Methodist South in critical condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis should have never happened. This man was at work doing his job,\u201d Quince said.<\/p>\n

The other man outside was not injured by the gunfire. Police say he returned shots at the initial shooter, striking him.<\/p>\n

Officers say the suspect barricaded himself inside the apartment thereafter. The Memphis Police Department\u2019s Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT Team were called to the complex to contact the gunman.<\/p>\n

\u201cTACT unit was called to the scene to try to locate this individual in this apartment. Upon using the robot and other kind of technology, [they were] able to find the suspect,\u201d said Memphis Chief Deputy Samuel Hines.<\/p>\n

Just before 7:30 p.m., police confirmed the suspect was found dead inside the apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
