Those wanting to steal cars break into homes to locate the keys so that they can take the cars. Toronto Police advised residents to leave their keys on the front door to avoid confrontations. The implication is that car owners should make it easier for the thieves to steal their cars while reducing the chances that residents would end up be injured in the process.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>From the Post Millennial:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>With one car stolen approximately every six seconds in Canada, Toronto Police have a new recommendation to residents: let the thieves steal your car.<\/p>\n<p>At an Etobicoke community safety meeting last month, Toronto Police Service Constable Marco Ricciardi told attendees &#8220;To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door, because they&#8217;re breaking into your home to steal your car. They don&#8217;t want anything else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Auto theft is so bad in Toronto that people have even left notes on their car windows to inform would-be thieves that the doors were unlocked, hoping that the windows wouldn&#8217;t be smashed in.<\/p>\n<p>According to blogTo, Toronto police had previously launched a campaign that told criminals how long they would have to finish a crime (an average of 22 minutes) before police would respond.
