Rifles stolen from American Legion leads to arrests of legion commander, 4 others<\/h3>\n

AMELIA, Ohio (WXIX) – Five people have been arrested in connection with rifles being stolen from the Amelia American Legion.
\nJustin Tuttle, Sarah Stouder, Samuel Willman, Jessica Caudill, and Shawn Griffith are facing charges following the theft that happened on Sept. 25, 2023, according to the Clermont County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Around 1:15 p.m. on the 25, deputies were called to the Amelia American Legion Post 773 on East Main Street.<\/p>\n

The legion commander at the time, Griffith, told deputies that numerous M-1 Garand inoperable ceremonial rifles had been stolen from the post\u2019s safe, the sheriff\u2019s office explained.<\/p>\n

Detectives investigated and later found out that Griffith and the others were involved in the theft, the Clermont County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n

The firearms stolen from the American Legion were kept at Store Space Self Storage while the suspects tried to sell them, the sheriff\u2019s office added.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 7, 2023, detectives served search warrants at the homes of Caudill and Willman.<\/p>\n

Three of the stolen rifles and electronic devices, which contained communications between all of the suspects, were seized from the homes, according to the Clermont County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Tuttle, Stouder, Willman and Caudill were indicted on Feb. 6 for receiving stolen property, the sheriff\u2019s office said. Willman was also indicted for a charge of having weapons while under disability.<\/p>\n

Griffith, the former legion commander, was indicted for eight counts of grand theft, the Clermont County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
