Man shot to death during fight with homeowner in Hueytown<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) \u2014 A 42-year-old man was shot to death following a fight with a homeowner in Hueytown Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Contravia Lamond Jackson, 43, was shot in the 200 block of June Avenue in Hueytown at approximately 2:07 a.m. Monday. According to the Jefferson County Coroner\u2019s Office, the shooting happened during a \u201cconfrontation\u201d with a homeowner.<\/p>\n

No other details surrounding the shooting were released in the report and the Hueytown Police Department declined to comment on the case when reached for comment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An early-morning shooting in Hueytown left one man dead.
\nHueytown police were dispatched at 2 a.m. Monday to a home in the 200 block of June Avenue on a report of a person shot.<\/p>\n

Officers arrived to find the male dead in the front seat of a vehicle.<\/p>\n

Police said the initial investigation indicates the sister of the resident of the home arrived at the house with two other males. At least one of the males brandished a gun and was shot by the homeowner.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Homeowner shoots home invasion suspect in Houma, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

HOUMA, La. (WVUE) – Police are investigating a home invasion in Houma where the homeowner shot and injured one of the suspects.<\/p>\n

According to Houma Police Chief Travis Theriot, the incident happened in the 300 block of Roberta Grove Boulevard on Feb. 20 around 5:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

Chief Theriot says the homeowner told responding officers that he shot an alleged intruder in his home. He reportedly heard a noise coming from the first floor of his home and as he went down the stairs to investigate, he was confronted by the suspect and shot. The suspect fled.<\/p>\n

Investigators were able to determine the suspect was injured in the shooting. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and identified the suspect as 34-year-old Dex Hebert.<\/p>\n

Officers then went to the 1200 block of Gibb Street in an attempt to arrest Hebert. Upon arrival, a woman identified as 26-year-old Tye Corbitt exited the home armed with a handgun. She was taken into custody and reportedly told officers that Hebert was shot in the head and lying on the couch. Officers found Hebert hiding under a mattress and arrested him without incident, Theriot said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
