Shots fired by owner in Riverside jewelry store smash-and-grab<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nWhat began as a regular work day turned into a chaotic one at Geneva Jewelry at Canyon Crest Town Center in Riverside.<\/p>\n

At around 11 a.m. Saturday, two robbers wearing masks and hoodies followed a customer into the store and began smashing the display cases with hammers while loading up the merchandise into their bags.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey walked in nonchalantly and just pulled out the hammers and started smashing,\u201d employee Michaelangelo Torchia told KTLA\u2019s Sara Welch. \u201cIt was super terrifying but I mean, we are pushing through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Torchia\u2019s father was working at the counter when the suspects entered and began smashing the display cases. That\u2019s when he walked over to a back room and retrieved his firearm. He then several fired shots into the floor to scare off the thieves.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce they got scared, they fell to the floor,\u201d Michaelangelo said. \u201cThey ran out.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nSAN ANTONIO \u2014 Nestled on a rise just east of the meandering Salado Creek, Victoria’s Black Swan Inn has been welcoming guests for all kinds of special events for years.<\/p>\n

The 1867 mansion hosts romantic weddings and market days. When the sun sets, they say spirits are likely to come out for paranormal tours.<\/p>\n

But what happened early last Friday was scarier than most ghost stories.<\/p>\n

“It was 1:18 in the morning,” Owner Jo Rivera said. “I heard a crack. I got up and I’m looking out the windows and I could see lights and like shadow movement happening outside.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
