Security guard, mall visitor shot weapons in response to Crown Center shooting, police say <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAn employee working security at Crown Center and a bystander fired weapons in response to a shooting in the shopping mall Wednesday, police say. Police said the security worker and the mall visitor have been identified and are cooperating with police as they continue their investigation. Emergency medical responders and police were dispatched around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday after multiple 911 calls of gunshots in the Crown Center.<\/p>\n

According to police, two victims were discovered in the lower level food court area and four other victims arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle. As of early Thursday, police said all victims are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

\nInvestigators were told there was a verbal argument between two groups that appeared to be youths, or people in their late teens or early 20s. The altercation quickly led to gunfire, according to police, in an incident which left six people wounded and damaged surrounding businesses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police: Muncie man shot after trying to steal vehicle<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nMUNCIE, Ind. \u2014 City police said a Muncie man was shot Wednesday after he allegedly tried to steal a car.<\/p>\n

Branden Dane Harless, 23 \u2014 who suffered a gunshot wound in one of his arms \u2014 was also arrested.<\/p>\n

According to an affidavit, officers were sent to a reported shooting at a home in the 2000 block of South Burlington Drive about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n

A person living at that address \u2014 a corrections officer at an Indiana prison \u2014 said he was letting his vehicle warm up in his detached garage before leaving for work.<\/p>\n

When he went out to get into the car, he allegedly found Harless in the garage, “messing” with the vehicle.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
