Atlanta-area police fatally shoot suspect who tried to steal cruiser<\/strong>
\nIncident occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday in Lawrenceville, GA<\/em><\/p>\n

Police officers in an Atlanta suburb fatally shot a man before dawn Tuesday after he tried to steal a police vehicle, investigators say.<\/p>\n

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said police in Lawrenceville were conducting a traffic stop when a vehicle sped by around 3 a.m. The black Kia Sorento made a U-turn and drove back toward the officers, with the driver getting out of the car.<\/p>\n

Officers in suburban Atlanta reportedly shot and killed a suspect who attempted to steal a police cruiser.<\/p>\n

The driver then tried to steal a police cruiser, investigators said. Lawrenceville officers shot the man after he didn\u2019t obey commands to stop, they said.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear whether the officers were physically threatened. The man\u2019s name hasn\u2019t been released.

One stabbed, another shot in Hebron community<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Jones County Sheriff\u2019s Department responded on Tuesday evening to an altercation that left an adult male victim stabbed multiple times in his head and his adult male attacker shot in the chest by the victim in an act of self-defense.<\/p>\n

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Mason Creek Road in the Hebron community where both individuals were located at two separate residences and transported by EMServ Ambulance Service to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel for emergency medical treatment.<\/p>\n

The incident is under investigation by JCSD Lead Investigator Troy Lewis. Charges against the attacker who stabbed the victim in the head with a sharp metal object several times are pending.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
