{"id":14709,"date":"2009-09-28T18:52:17","date_gmt":"2009-09-28T23:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=14709"},"modified":"2009-09-28T18:54:26","modified_gmt":"2009-09-28T23:54:26","slug":"stop-this-war-before-we-win-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=14709","title":{"rendered":"Stop this war before we win it!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dailymail.com\/donsurber\/2009\/09\/28\/10182\">Don Surber<\/a> links to a New York Times article titled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/09\/27\/weekinreview\/27shane.html?_r=1&#038;pagewanted=1&#038;ref=weekinreview\">Rethinking our Terrorist Fears<\/a>&#8221; I think the article is about how we shouldn&#8217;t fear al Qaeda anymore, but I think it&#8217;s actually about not having to rethink our strategy against terrorism;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Audrey Kurth Cronin, a professor at the National War College in Washington, cites the arcs of previous violent extremist groups, from the Russian People\u2019s Will to the Irish Republican Army, that she studied for her new book, \u201cHow Terrorism Ends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Al Qaeda is in the process of imploding,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is not necessarily the end. But the trends are in a good direction.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With Democrats currently thinking about jerking our military forces out of Afghanistan and as they navel-gaze while the generals are asking for more resources to fight the taliban and al Qaeda, experts have a simple warning;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Even counterterrorism officials who agree that Al Qaeda is on the wane, for example, say the organization might well regroup if left unmolested in a lawless region in Pakistan, Afghanistan or Somalia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All of the people who said that we couldn&#8217;t solve terrorism with a military solution are being proven wrong.
