There is an annual Caribbean street festival in the Notting Hill area of London (yes, the same “Notting Hill” as the Julia Roberts\/Hugh Grant\/Rhys Ifans\u00a0 romcom) which just concluded – with everyone reportedly having a great time. 8 stabbings were reported, 275 arrests,\u00a0 75 police officers were attacked, six bitten, one sexually attacked, and there were multiple reports of utes attacking others with machetes. Sounds like a great time for all.<\/p>\n
I will not comment on the ethnicity of the offenders\u00a0 – not an appropriate venue for that, and I’m ethnically not a believer, so to speak.. The photos posted on The Telegraph.UK<\/a> and the\u00a0NY Post<\/a>\u00a0 seem to indicate the Caribbean element is more prominent in the reports; but that isn’t why we are here.\u00a0 Look what they want to do in response:<\/p>\n Possessing a machete or zombie knife \u201cwith no practical use\u201d<\/em> will carry a jail sentence of up to two years in jail under a crackdown to close loopholes in the law.<\/p>\n Machetes and knives that are designed to look intimidating and threatening<\/em> will be made illegal under new legislation that is expected to be included in this Autumn\u2019s King\u2019s Speech.<\/p>\n The maximum sentence for anyone possessing, selling, manufacturing or importing the banned weapons will be increased from six months to two years, as will the maximum penalty for sales of knives to under 18s.<\/p>\n Police will also be given new powers to seize and destroy knives found on private premises if there are reasonable grounds to believe the blade would be used in a serious crime.<\/p>\n Under current laws, police cannot seize knives found during a search on a property, even if they had suspicions of criminal use.<\/p>\n The Government will also introduce a new offence (sic) for possession of bladed articles with the intention to endanger life or cause fear of violence.<\/em> At present, offenders can only be prosecuted for carrying a weapon in public or threatening someone with one.\u00a0 The Telegraph.UK<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n See all the subjective phrases I italicized? This\u00a0 is what we have to look forward to… the folks after your freedoms look up to the Euro power-grabbers and try to follow their examples, be it on climate control, household appliances, defense weapons, whatever. This is the kind of thing that allows them to do essentially what they want, when they want, to you without fear of repercussion.<\/p>\n Want a great example? Look at the headlines…Joe Biden says he will “set aside politics” to help Florida deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia. Joe… you’re the freakin’ PRESIDENT and these are (mostly) your citizens.
