Leaders called the problem an embarrassing oversight and have promised that veterans will be awarded back pay once their files are handled.

In this situation, the 32,000 delayed disability compensation claims filed through online systems were not properly routed to processing staffers, leaving the cases untouched. Military Times

Note VA already has a backlog of first time claims totaling almost a quarter-million claims.

And if it isn’t the bureaucracy biting you in the a$$… at least six Alaska National Guardsmen were attacked by coyotes (the four-footed kind, not people smugglers) at Ft. <del datetime="2023-08-28T17:20:20+00:00">Polk</del> Johnson last week.

Soldiers assigned to the 297th Infantry Regiment were injured when they encountered up to four coyotes while training at Fort Johnson, Louisiana, according to a base spokesperson. The soldiers likely encountered a den and were attacked by the wild dogs, suffering bite marks to their arms and head.

The soldiers were all treated for injuries and released from medical care. Fort Johnson wildlife officials shot one of the coyotes and captured another for rabies testing. The soldiers were armed with rifles but were training with blanks, which is common in the training environment.

A video posted on TikTok alleged 14 soldiers were injured from a coyote attack at the training center last month. Images in the video appeared to show a soldier with a stitched-up wound on his lip, and another with a stapled wound behind his ear, as well as various injuries, including puncture wounds, scrapes and bruises.

Military.com

Funny how poorly “Halt or I’ll click!” works on anything, animal or human.

Now we get to something sorta positive. The Brits have come up with a drone-busting sight system which when attached to the rifle makes downing drones significantly easier. Don’t even need an F-14.

The SmartShooter control system, Smash for short, utilizes software that identifies and tracks the Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS) in the air.

The system displays a box win the viewfinder which tracks the drone even if it takes evasive action according to the article.
