Remember when Harry Truman famously said about Richard Nixon that he lied so much, if he caught himself telling the truth he’s have to tell a lie real fast just to get back in step? We have a few folks today in the same club.<\/p>\n

First up, Kamala Harris.\u00a0 I know, what a shock.<\/p>\n

\u201cI \u2014 as Vice President of the United States, I am acutely aware of the fact that gun violence is the leading cause of death of the children of America,\u201d Vice President Harris told Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund\u2019s Annual Gun Sense University Conference in Chicago last week. \u201cIt\u2019s \u2014 it\u2019s the number one cause of death \u2014 not some disease \u2014 well, although this is a form of a disease, to be sure. Gun violence is the leading cause of death of our children.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So many lies in so little time. First of all, that is only true if you define “children” as up to 20 years old. So do we have a child military? 18 and 19 year olds can vote, sign contracts, do lots of adult things. Now, personally, I’m all over making the age of majority 21 across the country – I’d even support limiting full driver’s licensing to age 21 and up to limit teen driving, but that’s just too pragmatic.\u00a0 Oh, and note she is describing gun deaths as a “form of disease.”<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what we have been able to do, to your point about a public health crisis, is to put substantial resources into things like mental health, put substantial resources into community-based response\u2026\u201d Vice President Harris said.Buckeye Firearms<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Our governmental disease control exemplified by the CDC and NIH have already taken a hell of a beating during the COVID problems… turned out when they said “follow the science” meant anything but, right? So now let’s make a nonsensical connection to try and make gang-bangers and drug dealers a “public health” problem?<\/p>\n

For icing on the cake, she and the anti-gun crowd define suicide as ‘gun violence’ and lump suicides into the crime stats. Just a quick fyi – if they didn’t concatenate suicides in, our homicide numbers fall to around 20,000 more or less annually. Now compare that to a population of 330,000,000.<\/p>\n

Moving to California, remember when we mentioned SB 14 a while back, making child sex trafficking a serious felony? Seems the state Democrats are objecting to the cost of incarcerating the sex offenders, as the current cost of imprisonment in California is $128,000<\/p>\n

Existing laws call for sentencing a convicted sex trafficker for between eight and 20 years. The serious felony category lengthens sentences for repeat offenses, a doubling of a second offense and a sentence of 25 years to life for third offenses. Judicial discretion and other sentencing credits can reduce prison stays. The bottom line is that the serious felony category would keep repeat offenders incarcerated longer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Citing the growing cost of incarceration and its limited utility in deterring crime<\/em>, Appropriations Committee Chairman Chris Holden, D-Pasadena, placed SB 14 on \u201csuspense\u201d because of its cost, despite testimony that every victim recovered costs the state about $300,000. In the Democrat calculus, keeping people out of jail able to re-offend is cheaper than losing $300,000 per victim. Huh?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
