Subscribe to their newsletter.<\/p>\n \u201cHey, Eeyore, we need to do something big,\u201d Jim Gover said, using my nickname since we couldn\u2019t use our real ones in sonar for security reasons.<\/p>\n We were on day infinity of submarine patrol and my partner in mischief, Jim Gover, was about to get me in trouble again.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are 400 feet under the water in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with 24 Trident C-4 missiles pointed at the Soviet Union,\u201d I responded. \u201cIsn\u2019t that big enough?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo, you idiot. I\u2019m talking about something really important \u2014 a big prank.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDude. We\u2019ve been out to sea for seven weeks now. We\u2019ve done all the usual pranks \u2014 the \u2018mail buoy,\u2019 \u2018relative bearing grease,\u2019 \u2018water slug serial numbers,\u2019 \u2018blow the DCA,\u2019 \u2018feed the shaft seals.\u2019 We even stole the executive officers\u2019 stateroom door and replaced it with the door from the officer\u2019s head. It doesn\u2019t get much ballsier than that.\u201d<\/p>\n Jim chuckled. \u201cYeah, the XO\u2019s door heist was a lot of fun, but I think we can do better. Think big, man. How can we pull something off that would impact everyone on the crew and still be 100% safe? What\u2019s something that touches everyone?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
