(WKRN) \u2013 Metro police are investigating a self-defense claim following a deadly Sunday night shooting that occurred at a gas station in the Bordeaux area.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. at a gas station in 3900 block of Clarksville Pike on Sunday, Aug. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities reported that 42-year-old Ricky Starks Jr. was shot and killed following a reported altercation that occurred at the store.<\/p>\n<p>According to Metro police, Starks Jr. was outside of the Citgo gas station when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Ricky Johnson Jr., 34, \u2013 the man who allegedly shot Starks \u2013 told officers that he was exiting the Citgo when Starks approached him, pointed a gun at his head, pistol whipped him and demanded money.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson told officers that Starks followed him as he ran inside the store.
