Early morning home invasion under investigation<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPELETIER \u2013 The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning home invasion that took place in the 600 block of West Firetower Road in Peletier.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred when three masked men forcibly entered the residence with the apparent intention of committing a robbery.<\/p>\n

Their plans were met with unexpected resistance when the homeowner opened fire in self-defense.<\/p>\n

During the encounter, a brief exchange of gunfire ensued, leading the intruders to flee the scene.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tampa jewelry store employee shoots at armed robbery suspects, police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Tampa jewelry store employee shot at three armed robbery suspects on Friday afternoon, according to the Tampa Police Department.<\/p>\n

A gray Nissan Altima drove around the parking lot at Liberty Jewelers on West Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard before a woman got out and entered the store, police said.<\/p>\n

As the woman was leaving after walking around for a few minutes, she held the door open for two men, one who was armed with a hammer, according to police.<\/p>\n

The man with the hammer smashed a display case and grabbed multiple items, police said. The second man stood in the doorway and pointed a gun inside at employees and customers.<\/p>\n

The store employee shot at the suspects, who left the area.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
