\nWagner Group Mercenary<\/em><\/p>\n

Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner Group has been described as private military company, a Russian proxy force, or a mercenary army for hire- pays your money and takes your point of view.<\/p>\n

According to White House spox John Kirby, the Wagner Group has an estimated 50,000 personnel inside Ukraine \u2014 around 10,000 contractors and 40,000 convicts from Russian prisons. Consider the source.<\/p>\n

Prigozhin has in the past accused Russia\u2019s military leadership of incompetence in Ukraine, but on Friday he publicly accused them of striking his forces. <\/p>\n

Prigozhin’s forces have since entered Rostov, a city in the south of Russia. Prigozhin denied it is an armed rebellion but calls it “a march of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Vladimir Putin has now addressed the Russian nation by television, vowing \u201cpunishment\u201d hours after Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin declared he was withdrawing his troops from Ukraine and marching his mercenary army to Moscow.<\/p>\n

An \u201carmed rebellion\u201d against Moscow is treason and betrayal, and a threat to the Russian state which the government will \u201creact harshly\u201d to with \u201cinevitable punishment, Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on Saturday morning. He also stated that \u201cantiterrorist measures\u201d were now in place in Moscow itself.<\/p>\n

Warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner Private Military Company which is engaged around the world but particularly in Ukraine, where it had fought some of the toughest battles against Ukrainian defenders on behalf of Putin, has said he is taking his army to Moscow but insists it is not a coup.
