Homeowner shoots, kills Carolina Trace intruder, Lee County deputies say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA homeowner shot and killed a home invasion suspect in Lee County early Tuesday, deputies said.<\/p>\n

The incident was reported around 2:50 a.m. in the Carolina Trace neighborhood, which is a gated community south of Sanford, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

A 911 caller said a person was trying to enter the home.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeputies arrived at the residence and found a male subject that had been shot by the occupant,\u201d the news release said.<\/p>\n

EMS crews arrived and said the injured person died at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe investigation is domestic related and is ongoing,\u201d according to the news release.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nA federal appeals court has temporarily blocked the Biden administration from fully enforcing new regulations on pistols with stabilizing braces, gun accessories that President Biden has called “especially dangerous” after they were used in several mass shootings.<\/p>\n

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday enjoined the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from enforcing its new rule against gun owners and Second Amendment groups who filed a lawsuit challenging the regulation. The temporary injunction comes days before a deadline for individuals to register their pistol braces with ATF, destroy them, or remove the accessories from their weapons. Those that do not comply with the regulation by May 31 will be forced to pay a fee.<\/p>\n

Gun rights groups have argued in court that the stabilizing brace rule violates the Constitution by requiring millions of gun owners to register their weapons.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
