WASHINGTON\u2013US special forces burst into the wrong hotel room in the middle of the night and detained a sleeping guest during a training exercise, drawing a shamefaced apology Thursday from the military.<\/p>\n

The unfortunate guest \u2014 a Delta Air Lines pilot in his 30s \u2014 was handcuffed and questioned in the shower of his Boston hotel room for nearly an hour, according to US media reports citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n

The training exercise \u201cwas meant to enhance soldiers\u2019 skills to operate in realistic and unfamiliar environments,\u201d US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) said.<\/p>\n

The team \u201centered the wrong room and detained an individual unaffiliated with the exercise,\u201d USASOC said, expressing \u201cour deepest apologies to the individual who was affected.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’d love to read that After Action Report as well as the Lessons Learned.<\/p>\n

The USASOC said in its statement, \u201cwe are reviewing this serious incident with our partners and no further details will be released at this time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tip for guest – if you see these you are probably safe.\u00a0 However, don’t assume the knives are rubber.<\/p>\n
