Owner of stolen truck tracks it with AirTag and kills man inside, Texas police say<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBefore a Texas family\u2019s truck was stolen from their home, authorities said they tagged it with a GPS tracking device.<\/p>\n

The family was then able to track the stolen vehicle with the Apple AirTag hidden within it, San Antonio police officer Nick Soliz said in a news briefing recorded by KSAT.<\/p>\n

By tracking the AirTag, a man and two family members found the stolen truck in a shopping center parking lot on Wednesday, March 29, police said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like they tried to confront the suspect who they saw in their vehicle,\u201d Soliz said. \u201cI don\u2019t know if an argument happened, but we know that one of the victims of this stolen vehicle gets out of the car, goes around (and) attempts to contact the suspect in the truck.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the man was doing so, he said he saw the person in his truck pull out a gun, according to police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Elko woman who claimed self-defense innocent in ex\u2019s killing<\/strong><\/p>\n

An Elko County jury has acquitted a 24-year-old woman in the death of her ex-husband after she said she\u2019d been the victim of ongoing abuse and was acting in self-defense when she stabbed him last summer.<\/p>\n

Following a two-week trial, Brittany Sue Aleen Figiel of Elko was found not guilty of open murder in the June 2022 killing of 25-year-old Timothy Figiel.<\/p>\n

Under the charge, the jury could have convicted her of murder in the first-degree, second-degree, manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter. The jury deliberated for about two hours Friday evening before returning the not-guilty verdict, the Elko Daily Free Press reported this week.<\/p>\n

Brittany Figiel said she\u2019d been the victim of ongoing domestic violence and that her ex-husband had threatened to kill her during an assault a week before he attacked her again. She said she stabbed him in self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nOn Wednesday at about 6:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a home In the 3000 block of Preston Hollow Road in response to a cutting.<\/p>\n

The Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar personnel also responded.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, officers learned that this was a result of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

Officers found that the suspect, a man, had suffered several lacerations to his hands, arms and legs. The victim, a woman, stated that she and the suspect \u2014 her husband \u2014 were in an argument that turned violent as he began to physically assault her, according to police.<\/p>\n

The wife stated that, fearing for her safety, she grabbed a knife to defend herself and used it against her husband as he continued to assault her.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
