\nA Florida suspect was killed during a pursuit by deputies on Sunday after “waiting” and opening fire on the officers, striking one deputy three times, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Zion Bostick, 23, was allegedly trying to break into cars just before 7 p.m. in unincorporated St. Petersburg when deputies were alerted and began to pursue the suspect, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.<\/p>\n

“The suspect was waiting for them and as the K-9 and the handler cleared the building, that’s when the suspect shot at the deputy,” St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway told FOX13 Tampa.<\/p>\n

K-9 Corporal Matthew Aitken, 40, and his K-9, Taco, were accompanied by Sgt. Jake Viano, 49, as they tracked Bostick into a fenced backyard, where officials say the suspect was “waiting.”<\/p>\n

Police said the deputies followed the suspect and spotted him trying to hide behind a corner of a house.<\/p>\n

Bostick opened fire, striking Aitken three times before shooting at Viano, officials said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Police: Man killed in Battle Creek in apparent self-defense shooting<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBATTLE CREEK \u2014 A 40-year-old Fulton man was killed in a Wednesday shooting inside an apartment in what police are calling a self-defense shooting.<\/p>\n

The man is accused of breaking into an apartment at Georgetown Estates, Battle Creek police said.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to a distress call at the 1975 E. Columbia Ave. apartment complex around 9:41 p.m. Wednesday where they found Donald Richard Guthrie had been shot.<\/p>\n

Guthrie was transported by LifeCare Ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where he later died, police said.<\/p>\n

“It appears that Guthrie had forced his way into the victim\u2019s Georgetown Estates apartment, at which time the victim shot Guthrie,” police said in a release. “At this time, it appears that the victim acted in self-defense.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
