Liberal women seem bound and determined to eliminate women’s sport. I thought it interesting enough when they supported Muslim countries where they had to wear a hijab, couldn’t drive, or go to school. Now their policies toward transgenders seems destined to put biologically female athletes on the back burner.<\/p>\n
A Minnesota state court has ruled that USA Powerlifting must permit transgender athletes to compete.<\/p>\n
Transgender powerlifter JayCee Cooper, a male who identifies as female, sued in state court in 2021 after USA Powerlifting\u2019s sex-segregation policy barred him from competing against women. The court found that the organization\u2019s policy violated state anti-discrimination law.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Of all the sports in which undergoing male puberty would give one a near-insuperable advantage, powerlifting must surely be at or close to the top of the list.<\/p>\n
\n\n\nUSA Powerlifting president Larry Maile denounced the court\u2019s decision, pointing out that males have a particular advantage over females in powerlifting.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur position has been aimed at balancing the needs of cis- and transgender women, whose capacities differ significantly in purely strength sports,\u201d Maile said in a statement. In late January, World Athletics, the governing body of international track and field, released a proposal to permit transgender individuals to compete based on their gender identity so long as they artificially reduce their testosterone levels prior to competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that World Athletics, one of the biggest, has not (put) its foot down, I think it is really, really upsetting,\u201d British shot putter Amelia Strickler told the Telegraph<\/em>. \u201cI am genuinely worried. This is my career.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some sporting bodies have opted to make alternative divisions entirely.<\/p>\n
This year, the Miami Marathon created a \u201cnon-binary\u201d division for runners in a bid to accommodate those who do not identify as either male or female.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\nI believe it was P.J. O’Rourke who said that “women’s liberation was like having a leg-wrestling\u00a0 contest with yourself, and losing”.\u00a0 Sure seems apt in this case.<\/p>\n
Although: whatever guy-turned-gal who displaces Megan Rappinoe from the USWNT\u00a0 will never, ever buy a drink if I am around.<\/p>\n
