Being the first Chicago Mayor to be voted out of office in 40 years makes a statement. It’s been a stunning fall from grace. Lightfoot campaigned for mayor in 2019 by arguing crime was too high, saying she wanted to make Chicago the \u2018safest big city in the country.’<\/p>\n

She won in a landslide. The darling of the woke crowd was sworn into office as Chicago\u2019s 56th mayor. Pity her term in office was a disaster at every turn. But the voters are at fault of course.<\/p>\n

Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot blamed racism and her gender for her landslide defeat in her re-election bid, as Chicagoans weary of the rising crime on her watch celebrated her fall from \u201cpolitical rock star to rock bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a black woman in America. Of course,\u201d she replied when asked by a reporter if she had been treated unfairly.<\/p>\n

But she called being Chicago\u2019s mayor \u201cthe honor of a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRegardless of tonight\u2019s outcome, we fought the right fights and we put this city on a better path,\u201d Lightfoot said, as she urged her fellow mayors around the US not to fear being bold.<\/p>\n

Amid heavy criticism for the crime wave, homelessness and other troubles plaguing the city, the mayor had also injected race into the run-up to the election.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a black woman \u2014 let\u2019s not forget,\u201d Lightfoot, 60, told the New Yorker in a piece that ran Saturday. \u201cCertain folks, frankly, don\u2019t support us in leadership roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chicago Tribune called her loss a \u201cpolitical embarrassment\u201d and argued that crime \u201cskyrocketed\u201d on her watch.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Those Chicago racist MAGA sleeper cells were activated by a dog whistle and flooded the polls for whitey. Sure. On an interesting side note, Chicago Top Cop Superintendent David Brown resigned his post the very next day. He’s taking a position with a personal injury law firm.<\/p>\n

Brown was recognized by the city’s largest police union with a no-confidence vote in 2021.<\/p>\n
