I just finished Nikki Haley’s new book, “With All Due Respect”.\u00a0 I figured if a know liar and race pimp like Don Lemon found a need to take a shot at her, it must be worth looking into.<\/p>\n

She was Governor of my state for some time and was very popular here.\u00a0 I read the usual racist slander being spewed at her as a conservative and I could not help but take notice.\u00a0 When people like Wajahat Ali<\/a> say things like:<\/p>\n

\u201cI see her and I feel sad because she uses her brown skin as a weapon against poor black folks and poor brown folks, and she uses her brown skin to launder white supremacist talking points?,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

and<\/p>\n

“She’s the alpha-Karen with brown skin.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It only reinforces my own confirmation bias that voting Republican is probably the way to go again.\u00a0 Mrs Haley is of Indian ethnicity and seems to be guilty of “wrong think” for not supporting the narrative that America is a racist hatemongering cesspool.<\/p>\n

In her book, she talks often about the Charleston Church Shooting<\/a> that happened in 2015 while she was Governor.\u00a0 Dylann Roof was found guilty of murder and is awaiting Federal Execution while currently serving 9 Life Sentences.<\/p>\n

Roof espoused\u00a0racial hatred\u00a0in both a website\u00a0manifesto\u00a0which he published before the shooting, and a journal which he wrote from jail afterward. On his website, Roof posted photos of emblems which are associated with\u00a0white supremacy, including a photo of the\u00a0Confederate battle flag. The shooting triggered debates about\u00a0modern display of the flag\u00a0and other\u00a0commemorations of the Confederacy. Following these murders, the\u00a0South Carolina General Assembly\u00a0voted to remove the flag from State Capitol grounds.<\/p>\n

From Dylann Roof Manifesto<\/a>:<\/p>\n

I hate the sight of the American flag. Modern American patriotism is an absolute joke. People pretending like they have something to be proud while White people are being murdered daily in the streets. Many veterans believe we owe them something for \u201cprotecting our way of life\u201d or \u201cprotecting our freedom\u201d. But im not sure what way of life they are talking about. How about we protect the White race and stop fighting for the jews. I will say this though, I myself would have rather lived in 1940\u2019s American than Nazi Germany, and no this is not ignorance speaking, it is just my opinion. So I dont blame the veterans of any wars up until after Vietnam, because at least they had an American to be proud of and fight for.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I do not believe people owe me a thing for my service.\u00a0 That bill had already been paid in full by those who served before me.\u00a0 Govenor Haley was deeply disturbed by Roof’s killing spree.\u00a0 Insofar as I can tell, the Dylann Roof Manifesto is an affront to everything Nikki Haley stands for.<\/p>\n

Those who are incapable of de-biasing themselves will never understand that the Confederate Battle Flag is not seen as racist by many people including many of color.<\/p>\n

“For many people in our state, the flag stands for traditions that are noble. Traditions of history, of heritage, and of ancestry” and that the shooter had a “sick and twisted view of the flag. In no way does he reflect the people in our state who respect and, in many ways, revere it.”<\/p>\n

However, she also recognized the flag could cause pain, and others may view\u00a0“the flag as a deeply offensive symbol of a brutally oppressive past.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also presided over its removal from State Grounds.<\/p>\n

In the not so distant political times there had been a growing divide between what Patriotism and Nationalism stood for.\u00a0 Nationalism now seems to mean “White Nationalism” and synonymous with White Supremacy.\u00a0 \u00a0Patriotism is being conflated to have the same inference.<\/p>\n

This Blog is not an Echo Chamber to re-enforce confirmation bias of any kind.\u00a0 It is a living attestation that proves Veterans are not a monolith of belief.\u00a0 The concept that most of us served to protect the right of others to disagree with us escapes too many Americans.\u00a0 Those quomodocunquizing clusterfists and rapacious varlets of racism like Lemon and Ali will continue to profit from those who pander to their particular form of hate.<\/p>\n

I may have my own concerns about her becoming President but,\u00a0 being a Racist is not among them.\u00a0 Her book is a good read and mostly about her time in the Trump Administration.<\/p>\n
