{"id":1371,"date":"2008-03-22T08:17:49","date_gmt":"2008-03-22T12:17:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=1371"},"modified":"2008-03-22T08:52:07","modified_gmt":"2008-03-22T12:52:07","slug":"hillary-mccarthy-dragging-party-down-with-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=1371","title":{"rendered":"Hillary McCarthy dragging party down with her"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/ph2008032002697.jpg\" title=\"ph2008032002697.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/ph2008032002697.jpg\" alt=\"ph2008032002697.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><font color=\"#ff0000\">First Lady Hillary Clinton ducks to avoid sniper fire at Tuzla Airport in 1996 (Photo from <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.washingtonpost.com\/fact-checker\/2008\/03\/hillarys_balkan_adventures_par.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>) <\/font><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, after he announced his endorsement for Barak Obama, New Mexico governor and former clintonista Bill Richardson recommended that Hillary Clinton suspend her run at the White House (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20080322\/NATION\/212746989\/1002\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Times<\/a> link);<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The former energy secretary and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during President Clinton&#8217;s administration also said in an e-mail to his supporters on behalf of Mr. Obama yesterday that it may be time for Mrs. Clinton to get out of the race<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My affection and admiration for Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton will never waver,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It is time, however, for Democrats to stop fighting amongst ourselves and to prepare for the tough fight we will face against John McCain in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Clinton \u2014 who had been benefiting in polls from the controversy swirling around racially charged comments by Mr. Obama&#8217;s pastor \u2014 suffered an additional setback yesterday, when a federal appeals court dismissed a lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee (DNC) over the party&#8217;s decision to strip Florida of its delegates.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20080322\/NATION\/110244569\/1001\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Times<\/a> article reports that retired general and Obama supporter Tony McPeak accused Clinton of being this generation&#8217;s Joseph McCarthy;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> &#8220;I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country,&#8221; Mr. Clinton said, &#8220;instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gen. McPeak called Mr. Clinton&#8217;s statement horrible and compared it to the anti-communist Republican senator from Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It sounds more like McCarthy,&#8221; Gen. McPeak said. &#8220;I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I&#8217;ve had enough of it.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While Obama sends out his drama queens to battle with the Clinton machine, the Washington Post&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.washingtonpost.com\/fact-checker\/2008\/03\/hillarys_balkan_adventures_par.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fact Checker<\/a>&#8221; get to work ripping to threads Clinton&#8217;s contention that her foreign policy experience stems from a rocky airplane ride into Bosnia in 1996;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> A review of nearly 100 news accounts of her visit shows that not a single newspaper or television station reported any security threat to the First Lady. &#8220;As a former AP wire service hack, I can safely say that it would have been in my lead had anything like that happened,&#8221; said Pomfret.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pomfret, the Tuzla airport was &#8220;one of the safest places in Bosnia&#8221; in March 1996, and &#8220;firmly under the control&#8221; of the 1st Armored Division.<\/p>\n<p>Far from running to an airport building with their heads down, Clinton and her party were greeted on the tarmac by smiling U.S. and Bosnian officials. An eight-year-old Moslem girl, Emina Bicakcic, read a poem in English. An Associated Press photograph of the greeting ceremony, above, shows a smiling Clinton bending down to receive a kiss.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is peace now,&#8221; Emina told Clinton, according to Pomfret&#8217;s report in the Washington Post the following day, &#8220;because Mr. Clinton signed it. All this peace. I love it.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last week, I couldn&#8217;t fight the feeling that we were all being used by the Clinton campaign to tear down the Obama campaign with the YouTube videos of his &#8220;minister&#8221;, but Obama supporters are bouncing back.
