A man suspected of arson was shot and killed by Southern California sheriff’s deputies after leading authorities on a 30-mile vehicle pursuit in the desert over the weekend, officials said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Deputies responded Sunday following reports that a truck trailer was burning near Yucca Valley, the San Bernardino County Sheriff\u2019s Department said in a statement.<\/p>\n

A man believed to have started the fire drove away from the scene, leading deputies on a half-hour chase that lasted until he drove off a highway and his vehicle became disabled near Palm Springs, authorities said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nPolice in Colorado say a 12-year-old is dead after gunfire erupted between a man tracking his stolen car through a smartphone app and the car theft suspects.<\/p>\n

In a press release, Denver Police say they received a report of an auto theft Sunday while the vehicle’s owner, an adult male, was tracking the stolen vehicle using an app on his phone. <\/p>\n

“When the vehicle\u2019s owner approached the car, he was involved in an exchange of gunfire with occupant(s) in the stolen vehicle,” the press release said.<\/p>\n

Police say a juvenile male then drove the stolen car a few blocks, roughly 0.2 miles, where he was found by officers who discovered he had a gunshot wound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
